What is PPE?

WHAT IS PPE?

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a proven and effective way to protect against the transmission of COVID-19. Frontline healthcare providers are already reporting PPE shortages elsewhere, and current trends are strongly indicating that Alberta, and the rest of Canada, is on track to experience a completely overwhelmed medical system. Without protective gear, our frontline healthcare workers will become infected and unable to save lives.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a proven and effective way to protect against the transmission of COVID19. N95 Masks

N95 respirator masks (or particulate filtering face-piece respirators) are Class I medical devices. In a health care setting, N95 masks protect against exposure to respiratory viruses and bacteria. N95 masks are necessary for healthcare providers who are performing aerosol-generating procedures on patients infected with COVID-19, such as intubating a patient or putting a patient on a ventilator.

Surgical Masks

Surgical masks protect healthcare providers from respiratory droplets that can be transmitted from sick patients when they cough or sneeze in close proximity to a healthcare worker.

Disinfectants & Hand Sanitizers

Disinfectants & sanitizers have a huge role to play in helping to limit the transfer of microorganisms in healthcare settings and therefore in reducing the risk of spreading infection. Alcohol-based sanitizers must contain at least 60% alcohol in order to limit the spread of COVID-19.
